Die Videoinstallation besteht aus vier Monitoren, die direkt auf dem Boden liegen. Sie sind im Quadrat angeordnet und weisen mit der Bildschirmfläche nach oben. Zu sehen ist nichts anderes als das, was die Monitore durch ihre physische Präsenz im Raum verdecken: der Parkettboden des Bremer Institut français. Zahlreiche Werke Guitons reflektieren immer auch die Bedingungen, unter denen sie präsentiert werden. Bodenplastik erhebt dies zum zentralen Prinzip. Zwei ältere Versionen der Arbeit, die 2001 im Kulturhistorischen Museum Magdeburg und im gleichen Jahr in der Bremer Galerie Rabus entstanden sind, zeigen daher auch abhängig vom jeweiligen Ort Videobilder eines anderen Fußbodens.

The video installation consists of four monitors lying directly on the floor. They are arranged in a square and their screens are directed upward. There is nothing more to see on them than what the monitors conceal through their physical presence in the space: the parquet floor of Bremen’s Institut français. A large number of Jean-François Guiton’s works reflect the conditions under which they are presented: Bodenplastik (Floor Sculpture) lifts this to a central principle. This is why two older versions of this work, which were produced in 2001 at the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg and again that same year at the Galerie Rabus in Bremen, feature videos images of different floors.
