Was man sieht, ist mit wenigen Worten beschrieben: Es ist der vierfache Blick auf ein Kajütenfenster, welcher, anstatt Himmel, Meer und Horizont sichtbar werden zu lassen, immer wieder auf die Spiegelung einer gemauerten Wand trifft. Die in allen vier Fensterbildern veranschaulichte asynchrone Schaukelbewegung, das permanente optische Auf und Ab der Mauer und im Gegenzug dazu dasjenige des Fensterrahmens, das knarrende, zum Teil quietschende, an ein Schiff stau auf einer Holzplanke erinnernde Geräusch vervollständigen den Eindruck und die Vorstellung, dass man sich an Deck eines Schiff es befinden könnte und dabei auf die Kaiwand eines Hafens blickt

What one sees can be described in several words: it is the four-fold view of a cabin window that instead of allowing us to see the sky, the sea, and the horizon, time and again looks out onto the mirror image of a brick wall. The asynchronous rocking movement presented in all four window images; the permanent visual back and forth of the wall and, in contrast, in return that of the window frame; the creaking, in part squeaking sound reminiscent of a rope rubbing against a wooden plank complete the impression and the thought that one might be standing on the deck of a ship looking at the quayside wall of a harbor.
