The basis of this interactive video installation is comprised of projections of neon tubes that, like a permanently rotating white mesh, cover the walls of the space. One simultaneously hears subtle, clear tones, the kind one is familiar with when a neon tube is turned on, which complement one another here to produce a rhythmic concert. The focus of this work, however, is a colorful butterfly hanging in a small box on the right side of the space. The insect, a peacock butterfl y, is moving its wings, and this wing beat in turn appears to influence and control the movements of the tubes and the rhythm of the sounds of their starting up in much the same way as if this small box was the “nerve center” of the entire installation, directing, so to speak, the microcosm of the space. If the viewer approaches a spot and draws closer to the beautiful insect in order to examine it, the images on the wall and all audible sounds are extinguished
