In long, calm shots, the video Partance (French for "to be on the move") collects various snapshots from the Hanseatic city of Bremen. A barge slowly sailing through the picture, wind blowing through a building tarpaulin, wafts of mist rising in the park or the two cathedral towers with their widely ringing bells. These are familiar places and situations that Guiton makes visible in new ways through the persistence of his gaze. Light, movement and rhythm are not predetermined by him, but arise (as) of their own accord. The uneventful images become a perceptual event capable of triggering a wealth of associations and moods.
